Termite Control in India: Signs, Treatments, and Prevention
Early detection is key to minimizing termite damage. Here are some common signs of a termite infestation:
- Mud Tubes: Termites build pencil-sized mud tubes to travel between their nests and collect food. They are often found on exterior walls, foundations, and crawl spaces.
- Hollow-Sounding Wood: Termites consume wood from the inside out, leaving a hollow shell. Tapping on wood that sounds hollow can indicate termite damage.
- Discarded Wings: After swarming to start new colonies, termites shed their wings. Finding piles of discarded wings near windows or doors is a strong indicator of termite activity.
- Frass (Termite Droppings): Termite droppings are small, pellet-shaped, and often found near infested wood.
- Sagging Floors or Ceilings: Extensive termite damage can weaken structural supports, causing floors and ceilings to sag.
- Visible Damage to Wood: In advanced infestations, you may see visible damage to wood, such as cracks, holes, or a blistered appearance.
